Academically and scientifically validated
We work side-by-side with a top 100 global university with specific expertise in artificial intelligence and data science. Vet-AI is based in the University of Leeds £40m innovation hub, that connects businesses to world leading academics, facilities and support.
Our innovations have been validated by Innovate UK and backed by the government. We work with an exceptional, world renowned team of scientists and technologists to turn high quality data into AI tools that digitise veterinary medicine
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
In partnership with Innovate UK, we have run two KTPs. One for the development of our Gait mobility model and one for a pain prediction model.
As part of each KTP, a highly qualified graduate, known as a KTP Associate, joins the business full time to support in the development of these tools. This gives us access to specific expertise in-house.
David is internationally recognised for his work on artificial intelligence, particularly in computer vision. He works extensively across disciplinary boundaries, applying AI in engineering design, biology, and medicine. He has been Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Leeds, visiting professor at the MIT Media Lab, chair of the EPSRC ICT Strategic Advisory Team, and chair of an international review panel on the EPSRC po
He is a Turing Fellow, Fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI), a Distinguished Fellow of the British Machine Vision Association, and a Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition. He is Director of the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Medical Diagnosis and Care.
David Hogg
Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Leeds University.
Derek has been a tenured academic since 2008. The focus of his research is image and video analysis. He has supervised 14 PhD students, and 10 postdoctoral researchers in this time. He has licensed and commercialised software in the areas of sports analysis from video (tracking football players using multiple video cameras), and medical imaging (CT) Quality assurance based on image analysis as well as spinning out a company (HeteroGenius Limited) relating to digital pathology image analysis.
His PhD (1997-2000) related to tracking and gait analysis of livestock. He has a deep knowledge of convolutional neural networks and other modern machine learning based image analysis techniques.
Derek Magee
Associate Professor of Computer Vision at Leeds University.
Mark is Professor of Statistical Epidemiology and a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Mark’s research focuses on observational data science, causal inference, and health data analytics.
He has a background as a theoretical physicist. As the Deputy Director of LIDA, Mark leads a programme of research that spans theoretical and applied data analytics, with a particular focus on highlighting and solving analytical problems in observational research.
Mark Gilthorpe
Professor of Statistical Epidemiology at Leeds Beckett University
Esteemed academic with BSc Physics (First Class Honours. King's College London), MSc Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces (Imperial College London), and a PhD in Quantum Mechanical Modelling (Leeds University).
Co-wrote a paper with a Nobel Prize winner, has published 19 peer-reviewed publications, co-wrote a textbook on electron collisions, received four academic prizes for his work in physics, and has delivered talks at 40+ international conferences.
Trevor was part of the team for four years, playing an instrumental role in the foundations of our technology.
Dr. Trevor Hardcastle
Computational physicist and data scientist
Max Barton earned his PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Manchester in 2022, specialising in predictive modelling and interpretable ML for chemical processes.
He has since worked in industry, first at a startup developing deep learning-based anomaly detection software for large industrial companies. Now, he works with both the LLM and computer vision teams at Vet-AI.
